Alaska Airlines uniform rollout: Ensuring employees feel safe

Alaska Airlines began a 2-year ramp-up to roll out custom uniforms designed by Luly Yang to all frontline employees from 2018-2020. I provided internal communications strategy and story development, helping employees understand how safety and employee feedback were incorporated into the new uniform program, as well as educating employees on new uniform policies and procedures. When the pandemic hit in 2020, Alaska management opted to pause the uniform rollout to prevent unnecessary change for employees in an already turbulent time. However, due to the successful communication (and fly-looking uniforms), employees begged leadership to move forward with the rollout. Below is a communication I created for the external company blog on the launch of the new uniforms.
